In
the past 50yrs 1/3 of wildland has been lost and almost half of the world land
animals have vanished. By 2030 half of ocean life will be gone. With this
climate change and rising global temperature world will witness the end of the
ice age.
An
11-year old girl from Uttarakhand, Riddhima Pandey, is one of the 16
petitioners against government inaction to prevent the climate crisis. In 2017
she filed a complaint against the Indian government to protest the inaction for
climate change.
Her
demands to court
• Audit industrial projects for climate-related issues
• Plan a “carbon budget” to limit carbon dioxide emissions
• Establish a national climate recovery plan
Current
Scenario
• Sea level rises have submerged several low-lying islands in the Sundarbans, evacuating thousands of people.
• Bangladesh to be the first country to get hit by climate change. Increasing sea level and temperature are major reasons.
• Record break temperature in 2019 reached 50.6°C, killing 26 people and 15 monkeys died of heatstroke
• Climate change will show a decline of 9% in Indias GDP in the coming years. As India is a major contributor to agriculture in the world, it will show a fall of 40%.
• By 2020, Mumbai and Chennai will witness a few of its parts submerged in water due to a rise in sea level.
· 56% of India's population work in agriculture this sector
will witness undefinable damage in the coming years.

Among
various climate change action plan, few consist of
1. Increasing the share of green fuel and by 2022.
2. Plan to increase renewable energy capacity too much beyond
175 GW, and next till 450 GW.
3. Plans to make the transport sector green through e-mobility.
4. Increasing the proportion of biofuel blend in petrol and
diesel.
5. Jal Jeevan mission for water conservation, rainwater
harvesting and the development of water resources.
6. Almost $50 billion will be spent on these plans in the
coming years.
